Through past experiences with socioeconomic hardships in medicine, Ty garnered an early interest in the increase of health equity and access.
Ty was born in Berkeley, California and has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area his entire life. He currently studies Anthropology at the University of California, Los Angeles where he founded the university’s first undergraduate CaHPSA Chapter and where he serves as the Southern California CaHPSA student Representative to the CaPA Board for the 2018-2019 year.
At UCLA, he leads several local health campaigns advocating for gender inclusivity, sexual health, mental health, and food insecurity. In the future, he hopes to work with health legislation and effect policy that allows individuals to receive the healthcare they deserve.
