Mario Chavez serves as the Director of Community Relations and Patient Services for St. John’s Well Child & Family Center, a clinic chain of Federally Qualified Health Centers in Los Angeles.
Prior to his work at St. John’s Clinic Mr. Chavez has been working in the field of immigrant rights, housing, social, and economic justice, and building political power in our community. He works with both Non-Profit and Labor Organizations and has extensive experience in member development, electoral politics, and campaign strategy. Mario has been Political Director for SEIU United Long Term Care Workers, which is the largest local union in the west coast representing 180,000 home care workers. Throughout California; SEIU Local 1877 representing 40,000 Janitors, Security Officers, and Airport Workers; and SEIU Local 620 in Santa Barbara representing 5,000 public sector employees.
Mr. Chavez currently serves on the Board of Directors of the CHIRLA Action Fund and also serves on the Board of Directors (Treasurer) for Inner City Struggle.
