Hilary Siebens, MD joined PNHP in 1999 out of admiration for Dr. David Himmelstein’s courage and her own growing awareness of the unkindness and failures for patients and their families, especially those with disabilities, of the current health care system. She appreciates the simplicity and effectiveness of single payer (an Improved Medicare for All). In 2009 she helped develop the Los Angeles California Physicians Alliance chapter and in 2010 joined the Board.
Dr. Siebens consults with health care organizations on care communication and coordination. Her clinical practice has included primary care and rehabilitation in all care sites along the continuum in both Southern California and Boston with a current part-time focus on fall prevention. She has been the founding Medical Director of inpatient rehabilitation units and an outpatient senior health program.
She graduated from Yale (undergraduate) and Harvard Medical School and trained at Johns Hopkins (Internal Medicine), Harvard (geriatrics) and Tufts (PM&R). Current research focuses on implementation of a standardized care model and comparative effectiveness in hip fracture rehabilitation. She enjoys her family life with her husband, two children and their spouses, and three grandchildren.
