Firooz’s commitment to health care justice evolved from her personal experiences. She grew up in Los Angeles after immigrating to the United States from Bangladesh. Motivated by her family’s challenging experiences with the American healthcare system, she embraced health care as a human right and sought opportunities to advocate for reform and health justice.
She found that opportunity through CaHPSA with which she has been actively engaged for five years. She co-founded the UC San Diego CaHPSA chapter in 2013 and served as its president for two years. (The chapter continues as one of our most active ones.) From 2015-2016, Ms. Kabir was the Southern California CaHPSA Representative on the CaPA Board of Directors, after which she completed the CaHPSA Shearer Student Internship. She has continued to support CaHPSA, up to present, as an advisor on the statewide leadership team.
Firooz has a Bachelor’s degree in General Biology with minors in Law and Human Development from UC San Diego. She aspires to earn an MPH and MD.
