Christopher Cherney has worked as a California licensed nursing home administrator since 1997. He obtained a BA in Biochemistry from Harvard University in 1987 and his MA in Gerontology from SFSU in 2012. In 2001, he became the first employee of Kaiser Permanente’s first-ever free-standing skilled nursing facility.
Since 2005 he has worked as an expert witness in elder abuse litigation. Since 2012 he has taught in the Health Science Department at San Jose State University. In 2014, he began teaching in the Gerontology Program at San Francisco State University.
For more than ten years he has sparked fundraising for non-profit human service organizations including School of the Americas Watch (SOAW), and Richmond College Prep Schools (RCPS). He is an avid runner and lives in Berkeley with his wife (a Registered Nurse) and daughter.
